Orange Park Medical Center announced July 13 it will build a $14.4 million, free-standing emergency room in Middleburg, the hospital’s third in the area.
The 10,820-square-foot ER will be at 2554 Blanding Blvd. at Everett Avenue.
The project is expected to break ground next spring.
OPMC purchased the 4.6-acre property in March for $3.8 million.
“When people experience an emergency they’re looking for fast, efficient, quality, and convenient care,” Dr. Steven Goodfriend, OPMC emergency services medical director, said in a news release.
“By bringing this new ER to the Middleburg area, we’ll be able to meet the community’s growing need with the same high level of care that we offer at our main hospital. Essentially, we are bringing Orange Park Medical Center, including our specialty care, closer to patients.”
The hospital operates two other free-standing ERs, one on 103rd Street and another on Normandy Boulevard. Combined, the ERs treated 60,000 patients in 2020.
The facility is a full-service ER and will operate 24 hours a day.
