Mike Hogan was elected Duval County Supervisor of Elections, easily outpacing Tracie Davis.
Hogan, a Republican, received 96,819 votes compared to 80,559 for Davis, who is a Democrat.
Hogan’s win by such a large margin comes in an election where thousands more Democrats than Republicans voted. But, Hogan said, he’s always appealed to both parties and actually ran for City Council as a conservative Democrat.
Hogan also is a former Duval County Tax Collector and state representative. Four years ago, he was defeated by Alvin Brown in the Jacksonville mayor’s race.
He is chairman of the state’s Public Employees Relations Commission, a job he submitted his resignation for in order to run for supervisor. That resignation is effective June 30.
His term as tax collector starts July 1.
Davis has worked in the supervisor's office since 2001.
