Home decor specialty retailer Kirkland’s says it is closing its store at River City Marketplace.

Kirkland’s, at 13221 City Station Drive, Suite 155, sent an email to customers July 9 promoting its “store closing blowout sale” with savings up to 50%.

A store employee said the store will close Aug. 26.

Kirkland’s also has stores in The Markets at Town Center, Mandarin Landing, Island Walk in Orange Park and Cobblestone Walk in St. Augustine. The River City store is the only one closing.

On June 4, Kirkland’s Inc. reported a pretax loss of $27.7 million during the first quarter because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the temporary store closures.

The company said 357 of its 404 stores reopened and another 43 stores were open for curbside pickup.

The company has been closing some stores. It shut 27 locations in the first quarter and said it was seeking to close more unprofitable locations.

Kirkland’s said June 4 it anticipates that at the end of fiscal 2020 it will be debt-free and in a positive cash position.
