U.S. District Judge Marcia Morales Howard was awarded the annual William M. Hoeveler Judicial Professionalism Award by The Florida Bar.
The award recognizes an active judge who best exemplifies strength of character, service, and competence as a jurist, lawyer and public servant.
Jacksonville Chapter of the Federal Bar Association President Helen Peacock Roberson issued a statement:
“Not only is Judge Howard a brilliant jurist, she is also a paragon of professionalism and public service. Judge Howard is committed to the ideals of professionalism in her courtroom and models best practices of civility, competence and strength of character to all who appear before her.
“She is also committed to civic outreach and strives to make our third branch of government accessible to all. As one of many examples, she spearheaded the daunting task of bringing a naturalization ceremony outside the walls of the courthouse and onto the field of a Jacksonville Jaguars home game for 67,000 fans to witness.
“Thank you, Judge Howard, for all you do for the Jacksonville Division of the Middle District of Florida.”
