Mark Tillman will be the next dean of the Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences, Jacksonville University announced Feb. 25.
Tillman will start at JU on July 1. He serves as dean of the College of Health and Human Services at Kennesaw State University in Georgia. Before that, he was dean of Troy University’s College of Health and Human Services and taught at the University of Florida for 13 years.
Tillman received his bachelor’s degree in engineering sciences, master’s degree in engineering mechanics and a doctorate in health and human performance from the University of Florida.
“Dr. Tillman brings impressive skills in an advanced healthcare field, experience as dean at two well-respected colleges, and recognized success as a teacher and researcher to our Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences,” JU President Tim Cost said in a news release. “Dr. Tillman is the right leader to build upon the immense success we’ve seen, and he will continue pushing us to reach new heights of excellence.”
Tillman takes the place of Christine Sapienza, who now serves as the university’s provost.
“His commitment to facilitating the success of others, whether students or faculty members, will serve our campus community well as we look to expand undergraduate and graduate research and experiential learning opportunities,” Sapienza said.
Brooks will move into a new, three-story, 105,000-square-foot medical arts and sciences building at 3412 University Blvd. N. in the spring.
