Goodwill store approved for East Arlington

The city issued a permit for construction of the 16,395-square-foot store at Kernan and McCormick.

The city issued a permit Jan. 21 for Target Contractors Inc. to build a Goodwill Industries of North Florida store at 1919 Kernan Blvd. N. at a cost of $1.05 million.

The 16,395-square-foot store is planned on 2.56 acres at southeast Kernan Boulevard and McCormick Road in East Arlington.

Sleiman Enterprises is the developer. Dominion Engineering Group is the civil engineer. Doherty Sommers Architects Engineers Inc. of Jacksonville Beach is the architect.

The city calculated a mobility fee of $165,188 in October to mitigate the traffic impact.

The city issued a site-clearing permit Jan. 14 for the project at a cost of $88,000.

Goodwill Industries of North Florida has more than 30 stores in Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, Orange Park, St. Augustine, Yulee, Palatka, Palm Coast and Gainesville. Its site is goodwilljax.org.

The nonprofit sells donated items at its stores to fund job-training, placement and career counseling programs. It also sells items online at shopgoodwill.com/Jacksonville.
