Starting April 10, Embassy Suites Jacksonville Baymeadows will dedicate a floor of its hotel for health care workers to stay at no cost.

The initiative will run until April 30, with the potential to extend it for longer.

The rooms will be open to doctors, nurses, EMTs and other front-line medical staff in Jacksonville.

“The hotel hopes these essential medical workers can use the rooms to rest between shifts, isolate to protect their families or to be closer to their place of work,” said a news release.

The Embassy Suites is following the lead of Hilton and American Express, which announced April 8 they would donate up to one million room nights to medical professionals in the U.S. Hilton owns the Embassy Suites line of hotels.

Hilton is working with 10 medical professional associations to provide access to the program, which supports those who would otherwise have to spend their own money on accommodations. Those organizations include the American Hospital Association, American Nurses Association and the American College of Emergency Physicians, among others.
