City Inspector General Lisa Green announced Oct. 30 that Jacksonville’s Office of Inspector General received accreditation from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation Inc.
“The city of Jacksonville is the first municipal office accredited in Florida,” Green said during a Zoom news conference.
The commission accredited the office Oct. 15
The office’s policies and procedures were thoroughly reviewed and recognized as best practices, with no deficiencies noted during the review, she said.
The Office of Inspector General was established by ordinance in October 2014.
It was created to provide independent oversight of city departments, employees and elected officials.
The office’s role was expanded in January 2016 to include oversight of the independent authorities and constitutional officers.
Green said the office serves to enhance the public’s trust by fostering accountability and integrity in government.
