Former Office of Economic Development Executive Director Ted Carter has accepted a job in Cuyahoga County in Ohio.
He plans to start as chief economic development officer in mid-January after County Council approval.
Carter served as former Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown’s top economic development officer until July, when Brown’s single term ended after Mayor Lenny Curry was elected.
Carter previously was executive managing director for CBRE in Washington, D.C.
Cleveland.com reports Carter’s salary will be $190,000. When appointed in Jacksonville to start in 2013, his salary was $195,000.
Cuyohoga County’s 2014 population was estimated at 1.26 million, higher than Duval County’s almost 900,000.
Presidential primary ballot certified
Secretary of State Ken Detzner certified 16 candidates whose names will appear on the ballot for the March 15 presidential primary.

Murray Hill Branch Library out of service due to flooding
The Jacksonville Public Library has suspended services at the Murray Hill Branch Library until further notice due to interior flooding.
The damage was due to a main water line break that leaked through the foundation into the building.
Murray Hill Branch customers who use the 918 Edgewood Ave. S. facility can pick up items on hold at the Willowbranch Branch Library. Materials can be returned to any branch location.

Up In Smoke BBQ food truck wins Anheuser-Busch contest
The Anheuser-Busch Jacksonville Brewery and Tour Center recently hosted a Bud Light-themed food truck event and crowned a champ who created the most “Up for Whatever” menu.
The winner of this year’s event was the Up In Smoke BBQ food truck for its Oriental Nachos fare.
A panel of judges selected the winners based on originality and flavor.
McCaleb re-elected as JTA board chair
The Jacksonville Transportation Authority board of directors re-elected Scott McCaleb to a second term as chairman.
The Jacksonville Beach resident and president of Vulcan Materials Co. was appointed to the board in 2012 by Gov. Rick Scott. He was re-appointed for a second term this year.
Joining McCaleb as officers are Isaiah Rumlin, vice chairman; Kevin Holzendorf, secretary; and Ari Jolly, treasurer.
