• The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has selected new officers and members for its board of directors. Each member will serve a three-year term and joins the existing board of directors, who are responsible for the operation and overall management of the zoo. The officers are John Hayt, chair; Howard Coker, chair-elect; Pamela Phillips, secretary; and Anjie Merritt, treasurer. New board members are Kelly Madden, Bob Moore, Dean Piacente and Kerri Stewart.

• St. Vincent’s Health System opened and dedicated a new nursing education center last week. The Debbie Gottlieb Center for Nursing Excellence will focus on continuing education and internships for nurses. The center is named for Debbie Gottlieb, a former nurse at the hospital and a graduate of St. Vincent’s School of Nursing. Gottlieb and her husband Mel have made many endowments to the hospital over the years.

• Fresh Ministries will host a grand opening celebration Nov. 18 at 11:30 a.m. for the restored Klutho Apartment Building in Springfield. Mayor John Peyton will cut the ribbon to open the building.

• The Department of Children and Families has named Tom Baselice contract management team supervisor and Brian Dart contract manager for Duval County.

• Jacksonville Library Foundation has named Jessica Pate and Suzanne Yack co-chairs for the Much Ado About Books literary festival, scheduled for April 1-2.

• American Enterprise Bank has named L. Craig Merritt, senior vice president, for the commercial lending division and Julie Van Fosson, assistant vice president/manager of loan operations.
