A pair of JEA executives have moved into newly created roles.

Kurt Wilson, vice president of government and community relations for the past four years, began serving as chief of staff May 6.

Wilson will support the utility’s leadership team, Office of General Counsel and board of directors while also establishing working relationships with community partners, government officials and regional agencies, according to a news release from JEA.

Previously, Wilson served 25 years with Jacksonville Fire & Rescue, retiring as chief of the department.

JEA named Joe Orfano as deputy chief financial officer. He will be responsible for supporting the CFO in managing JEA finances and focusing on operational efficiency.

The utility said Orfano will be the primary JEA liaison to the financial community, including bond investors, banking partners and credit rating agencies.

Orfano, who also began his new role May 6,  joined JEA in December 2013 and has served as treasurer, interim CFO and vice president of financial services.
