Echo Suites Extended Stay by Wyndham is taking steps to build a four-story, 124-room extended-stay hotel in Middleburg.

Developer Holladay Property Services Midwest Inc. filed an application for an environmental resource permit with the St. Johns River Water Management District on May 3.

Holladay agreed to a purchase and sale agreement for the site with owners Doug Sopha and Pantelis Mastrovasilis in August 2023 for $1.9 million, according St. Johns River Water Management District records.

Holladay is based in South Bend, Indiana.

The hotel is planned at Florida Road 21 and the First Coast Expressway south of a Walmart Supercenter.

Plans call for a 51,670-square-foot building on 2.3 acres with 130 parking spaces.

The property comprises four parcels at 3804-3808 Irvin Court at Florida Road 21 and the First Coast Expressway.

It is south of a Walmart Supercenter. Plans show space for future development south of the hotel.

Gainesville-based JBPro is the civil engineer.

According to its website, Echo Suites targets guests who plan to stay seven or more days. One-week stays start at $599 at its Richmond, Virginia, location.

The preliminary site plan for the Echo Suites in Middleburg.

The site says the hotel brand is “officially the fastest growing brand in Wyndham’s development pipeline.”

It says “multiple projects have already broken ground and are in various stages of construction across Virginia, Texas and South Carolina, with over a dozen more slated to break ground in the months ahead.”

The site says it is on track for 268 locations.

“By virtually every metric, ECHO Suites is a phenomenal success, becoming not only the fastest-growing brand in our industry but the largest brand launch in the history of Wyndham,” said Chip Ohlsson, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts chief development officer, in a 2023 statement.
